Long-Term Disability

Cleveland State University provides Long-Term Disability to all eligible Faculty and Staff, at no cost through Unum.

The Long-Term Disability (LTD) plan covers 60% of your pre-disability earnings, up to a $5,000 monthly benefit. This plan offers coverage starting on day 91 through the duration of an approved disability up to age 65 or Social Security Normal Retirement Age. If you anticipate being on leave for more than 90 days, it is recommended that you apply for LTD around 30-45 days into your leave.

Cleveland State University’s sick pay benefits are intended to provide full income replacement during periods of short-term disability prior to the time you are eligible to begin receiving Long Term Disability benefits, if qualified. Employees are required to use their available accumulated sick leave, vacation hours and compensatory time (if available).
